I always thought the Chinese PC version of Suikoden II was an unofficial (read pirated) release like they are prone to do, especially since there wasn't a Japanese version released, but looking at the images they seem to have had access to the original files cause the graphics are much improved over the Playstation version, smoother. Despite being a respectable enough RPG, Suikoden was a relatively shallow, quick-play RPG that was light on content and heavy on combat. Suikoden II addresses a number of the problems of the original Suikoden, and although it feels somewhat rehashed, it still holds its own nicely in today's cutthroat RPG market. Suikoden is brought to life with 2-D and 3-D texture-mapped graphics, as well as numerous cut scenes. And the game's music helps tell the story, too-Suikoden features an interactive soundtrack. Suikoden should help satisfy many PlayStation owners' ravenous appetite for RPGs with adventure. The Suikoden series is full of hidden gems, and to this day Suikoden II remains my favorite game. The complexity and moral greyness, multiple endings, huge cast of characters, and growing castle full of minigames keep it fresh on every playthrough.
